Cocktails are a major part of any night out or party. Halloween is the perfect time of year to try new ones. I am a vodka girl at heart, but I do love color and style in a good drink. I found 7 Halloween cocktails that are made of ingredients you probably have in your home or they’re easy to pick up whenever you’re out running errands. Most of these are from Delish.com. Parties will be hard to attend this year with the state the world is in, however it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy cocktails with family and friends via a good Zoom session or small-scale event, right? Or simply mix yourself one while you watch your favorite horror film. This post contains affiliate links. Ever been puzzled why the words fall and autumn are exchanged at times during this wondrous season of the year? It’s my favorite with cooler days/nights, firepits, football, pumpkin pies, and comfy clothes. I really live for it. I get regular email newsletters from one of my favorite online magazines: AtlasObscura.com, and they published this piece by Dan Nosowitz again today. He wrote it in November 2017, but of course, nothing’s changed as far as the roots and meanings of these two words. So, let’s read Dan’s own words so the next time this pops up we’ll know! Usage of the word “fall” first appeared in England in the mid-16th century; “autumn” pre-dates it to sometime in the late 14th…
Maxim Kryl found Floki the raven as a baby alone outdoors in cold weather. He took him home and cared for him. Today, despite the fact that Floki can take care of himself, he flies home to his dad every day to speak and snuggle. He also plays fetch and behaves like a dog. I ran across this adorable video in my Facebook feed and it is too good not to share. His dad and he even have their own Instagram page: Flokitheraven https://youtu.be/W6KyKrTp-PY Video Credit: The Dodo You can read more about their story here. Who misses “Stranger Things” the series besides me? It’s hard to wait a year every year until July 4th to see the new season, but more so now since we don’t know when we’ll get the next one. I DO know there’s a strong possibility they may have started filming again in Atlanta, Georgia, which is where they’ve filmed a lot of the show. While we wait we can try a new cocktail inspired by Milly Bobby Brown’s character “Eleven”. I recently found a fantastic Halloween blog created by Miranda called SpookyLittleHalloween.com . This cocktail and post is featured on her blog so I am merely passing it along. As part of my Halloween page’s content, I will be featuring her story the first week of October. Please visit her blog and read her posts about decorating, recipes, party ideas, and more. Stranger Things Cocktail: The Eleven Whether you’re recharging…
Searching for activities during a world-wide pandemic for your family to do isn’t an easy task. We’re all looking for fresh air with outdoor exploration to get us out of our houses. We’d visited Build an Ark Animal Rescue in Ellijay, Georgia, for the first time last fall, and on Sunday, we decided to drive up from Atlanta to see the animals again. It’s a large property so being outdoors and wearing masks when necessary wasn’t that hard to do. Susan Littlejohn founded the rescue in 1993 in Rome, Georgia, later moving to the mountains of Ellijay. Tom fed Bella who’s a pot bellied pig who much prefers fruit over veggies. She allowed me to pet her…

I’ve been discovering and ordering ones that cross my Instagram feed from book reviewers. I enjoy their breakdowns and honest opinions of what’s on their To Be Read (TBR) lists. It’s been my main source since the continuing state of the world has drastically cut down on my trips to bookstores. I dart into Barnes and Noble and used stores if not crowded. In and out. I decided I’d Google top books of 2020 to see what’s new. After scrolling through title lists, I’ve picked 5 out to tell you about today from some key categories. The source I used was FiveBooks.com which is a site where experts and authors make recommendations on what they consider the top…
Oscar Wilde Quote Tee Read what you love! The teens and I have spent the summer, and now early fall, watching horror movies. We do our research and been lucky so far in picking decent, if not great ones. We’re only asking for entertainment and jump scares “Ready or Not” is a 2019 movie that we didn’t read up on. We’d heard it was fairly good so we took our chances and watched it last night. It is a fast-paced movie that plays into a lot of horror movie tropes, villains are mostly moronic, and you know what the ending is likely to be. All of this said we liked it. It did its job and provided 90 minutes of macabre fun. Its main saving grace is the lead character played by Samara Weaving, an Australian actress and the niece of the great Hugo Weaving. Hugo is well known for the “Matrix” and “Lord of the Rings” trilogies.…

They were making a mess with their old drinking fountain – hair and food – and it was hard to refill with fresh water. Saw the Catit Flower Water Fountain on a friend’s Facebook page, read the reviews, watched the video of it in action, and ordered it. You can buy filters for it that keep the water clean and they are easy to keep flushed from any debris. There are a variety of ways to run the water through the fountain. You can set it to run on 3 different settings: Ours flows like a brook but you…
