Harry Potter fan? There’s an awesome exhibition going on now in Atlanta, Austria, and France. My friend Aja and I went to the Atlanta Harry Potter Exhibition yesterday. Located in an ideal venue space on Carnegie Way downtown it’s easy enough to get to. The exhibition is in town until the end of February so you have a chance to see it. You get to see movie props – Tom Riddle’s diary, resurrection stone, Ravenclaw diadem and more, costumes, learn background details from the film, and there are some interactive pieces too. The official site’s description is as follows: “Harry Potter™: The Exhibition is a groundbreaking touring exhibition that celebrates the iconic moments, characters, settings, and beasts as seen in the Harry Potter™ film series and the Wizarding World. This unique in-depth exhibition delights visitors through powerful storytelling and innovative, interactive technology and features original props and costumes.” The interactive…

We recently traveled to Gulf Shores, Alabama, and had a good visit. Let’s talk about what we did and give you a few reviews of places to go. We stayed at the Lighthouse Condominiums which I highly recommend. It was our third time staying there. It’s located right on the beach and has big spacious living areas along with nice-sized bedrooms and full kitchens. You can step out on any balcony and see the beach. It also offers 2 large pools and 2 hot tubs. One of the pools has a zero-entry side for the little ones in your family. We booked our stay through VRBO and it couldn’t have been easier. The weather was beautiful during our stay and never rained. The gulf was calm with enough waves to make body surfing fun. The condominium pools were busy but not so much that you couldn’t enjoy yourself and the…

It is also often observed for celebrating African-American culture. Originating in Galveston, Texas, it has been celebrated annually on June 19 in various parts of the United States since 1865.”Source: Wikipedia Historic Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia is hosting tours and free programs to celebrate from June 18th to the 30th. If you’re into outsider and folk art, then Howard Finster’s Paradise Garden in Summerville, Georgia is where you want to be. The Reverend Finster was a prolific artist who produced over 46,000 works in his lifetime. There’s a 4-acre property or garden dedicated to his work complete with a museum and fabulous gift shop. We wrote an article on him earlier in the blog Howard Finster “the Grandfather of Southern Folk Art” where you can read all about him and see some of his art. Recently, we visited the Garden’s May Artist Market and the pictorial is below, but first, there are two upcoming events you need to know about if planning a trip to Paradise Garden. Sounds like a fun event and the floral designs are sure to be creative. We also recommend visiting the Rock Garden in Calhoun as mentioned above. We’re going to do a pictorial post…

Illumine the annual art event at Atlanta’s Oakland Cemetery has wrapped for 2022. Illumine is an art installation held in the Victorian garden park once a year to bring awareness to the beauty of the grounds and its history to the city. This year’s center leaned more towards education versus art exhibits, but it was still worth the walk in the evening among the cemetery residents. We’ve included a pictorial essay of our visit and hope you enjoy it. This post contains affiliate links. Christmas lights are one of the best parts of the holiday season. Our family has a tradition of getting in the car after dinner and driving around to see favorite light displays from each year and discovering new ones. People can be so creative and put up lights in their yards or join with neighbors to make even bigger lighting events. It’s fun when they add music and you can listen to it in your car. Don’t ask me how they do this because I have no idea! Quite a few of the families who host the light displays raise money and donations for non-profits like the Make a Wish Foundation, Toys for Tots, and food pantries. One family raised over $11,000+ in monetary donations last year! Fantastic. We’re talking about some of the neighborhoods with lights here in Atlanta and surrounding counties including 6 we personally visit every single…
