Valentine’s Day is almost here and there are plenty of songs about love to listen to, but how about those songs you might not have thought of? Our friend Miranda has a fabulous blog Spooky Little Halloween.com where she celebrates Halloween 365 days a year. We did a feature post on her last year Discovering a Unique Halloween Lifestyle Blog that gives you all the fun facts about her work. She likes to “Valloweenify” Valentine’s Day or in other words make it more Halloween for fun. She recently wrote about spooky songs that can be equally romantic as the heart holiday ones. We’re posting her thoughts here. (from Spooky Little Halloween) Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you. At least, that’s what Classic IV likes to tell me. Their song, “Spooky”, is one of my favorite Halloween tunes no matter what time of year I hear…

New Year’s Eve is one of my favorite holidays. I love the thought of a brand new year that starts at midnight of the last one. And the champagne. Always champagne. I usually post literary quotes or about new year traditions from around the world, but this time I thought I’d share random ideas I had for a year’s recipe. It’s ABC’s so to speak. Some simple thoughts – not reinventing the wheel just thinking of things to put on it. However you celebrate, I hope you have a bright, shiny new year! A Pick a day to abandon your cares and woes and do what you want. B Books always make you happy. Reading is pretty much the answer to everything. C Create something for yourself or others. Create even if you’re the only one who sees it. Just create. D Doodle and write when you can. It might…

We were curious at this time of year what could be the world’s most expensive Christmas items. So, we did a little research and found 5 things to tell you about – an ugly holiday sweater, advent calendar, Christmas tree, an ornament or bauble, and a dinner sure to satisfy a true epicurean. Personally, we’d take the advent calendar as you’ll read below how special it is. Let’s dive in and see what you could buy if money were no object during Christmas. Some of these things are from 2021 and others from the past according to our research. Most Expensive Advent Calendar In 2021, this Advent calendar weighs a huge 108 pounds and costs $10M+. Designed by Debbie Wingham, a designer who also created the world’s most expensive Christmas tree in 2019. It was commissioned by a Swiss family who wanted to celebrate their upcoming 12 months of travel…

Christmas lights are one of the best parts of the holiday season. Our family has a tradition of getting in the car after dinner and driving around to see favorite light displays from each year and discovering new ones. People can be so creative and put up lights in their yards or join with neighbors to make even bigger lighting events. It’s fun when they add music and you can listen to it in your car. Don’t ask me how they do this because I have no idea! Quite a few of the families who host the light displays raise money and donations for non-profits like the Make a Wish Foundation, Toys for Tots, and food pantries. One family raised over $11,000+ in monetary donations last year! Fantastic. We’re talking about some of the neighborhoods with lights here in Atlanta and surrounding counties including 6 we personally visit every single…
