Cindy’s Dragonfly is a fun, creative garden and gift shop in Dillard, Georgia. Located on the side of 441 Hwy N in the north Georgia mountains. We actually stopped by one weekend before they opened for the season and they were gracious enough to let me in. I was happy since we were celebrating my birthday and shopping was a must. We don’t have a big back yard but I’m slightly obsessed with yard art. Photo Credit: Jennifer Graham Lots of creative, metal garden art. As part of my birthday this year, we traveled to an amazing VRBO home in Sky Valley, Georgia. Big fans and frequent visitors of the north Georgia mountains we hadn’t been to this particular corner. Sky Valley is the highest city in the state and borders North Carolina. I took pictures of the scenic overlook on the way to the house and the overlook was 3,100+ feet! We drove up a road leading to a higher elevation to reach our destination. Whoosh! [envira-gallery id=’8378′] Birds Nest VRBO Stunning mountain getaway as words that accurately describe the property we rented. We were thrilled. I cannot imagine not living there year round if I was fortunate enough to own it. It’s quiet and serene and gorgeous where the home is located. And, you can drive to restaurants and stores within 20 minutes in Dillard or skip over to North Carolina. [envira-gallery id=’8387′]…
Book obsessions are moods we fall into all the time. When you’re looking for your next book, it’s fun to hunt it down. We LOVE shopping in stores but also reading the book newsletters we receive. Bookshop.org supports a collection of independent book stores, and it’s fun to read their recommendations. In fact, we happen to find our next reads on their lists a lot of the time. We’d encourage you to check out their site while we link to 4 books to check out below. One just came out in February 2021 and the other 3 are from 2020 and 2019. Different genres with different moods. “The Night Mail” poem written by WH Auden paints a vivid picture of what it was like to transport and receive mail once upon a time. The excitement of it reaching its destination and people walking to their mailboxes or their local shops to pick up letters. The Night Mailby WH Auden This is the night mail crossing the Border,Bringing the cheque and the postal order, Letters for the rich, letters for the poor,The shop at the corner, the girl next door. Pulling up Beattock, a steady climb:The gradient’s against her, but she’s on time. Past cotton-grass and moorland boulderShovelling white steam over her shoulder, Snorting noisily as she passesSilent miles of wind-bent grasses. Birds turn their heads as she approaches,Stare from bushes at her blank-faced coaches. Sheep-dogs cannot turn her course; They slumber on with paws across. In the farm she passes no one wakes,But a jug in a bedroom…
