April is Earth Month, and even if you practice recycling all year and use eco-friendly products, it’s a time to reflect on what more we can do in the world. I’m certainly no Greta Thurnberg, but I try to do little things to make a difference. Recently, Etsy.com sent out information in their partner newsletter about the many ways they try to support Mother Earth. I was pleasantly surprised and unaware of what they do. I thought it might be interesting to share with all of the Etsy lovers who read our blog. In 2019, Etxy became the first global eCommerce company to completely offset carbon emissions from shipping. https://youtu.be/qq3wGeYzzsg In their own words: “we must hold ourselves to an…

I took the Tell-Tale Heart Richmond tour today that we talked about earlier this week. It was a livestream event created via a partnership between the Poe Museum and Heygo.com. I’d never used Heygo and have to say I may be hooked if their other tours are as entertaining. I signed up for this particular event because it was about places around Richmond to visit that were there in Poe’s day. Dean Knight, Programs Coordinator at the museum and a theatre actor, did an excellent job. He’s also a tour guide in the city so fun to listen to since he entertains you with facts and recites poetry. Can’t go wrong with that combination! You still have time to take the Tell-Tale Heart tour on Thursday, April 22nd, at 3 PM EST. Highly recommend it! Heygo connects people from around the world through tours where they can log into their…

Old Town Lilburn is a historic area of Lilburn, Georgia, enjoying a renaissance. The city park has been undergoing renovations with a newly designed playground, expanded green space, and a new splash feature is being built. Alongside, Old Town you’ll find the Camp Creek Greenway, a 4.2 mile multi-use trail that starts in Lilburn City Park and expands through neighborhoods and to more parks. Residential homes are going up, there’s a distillery, main street dining, a local music store that hosts community events, and a vibrant scene for family-friendly entertainment. With all of this growth, a newcomer arrived in town in November 2020 and has been steadily putting down roots as an essential part of Old Town Lilburn. Citizen Exchange is an artist collective and it has taken off in a big way as a popular place for locals to buy gifts, attend classes, and showcase their work. Citizen Exchange…

Etsy is one of our absolute favorite sites for one-of-a-kind gifts. We use this artist driven marketplace for gift giving all year long, especially Christmas and birthdays in our family. The site has so much variety, and if you wonder if they have it, they most likely do. Artists create the items in small batches or upon order. You can often get items personalized which is a nice touch. Ideal for a wedding or baby shower gift with monograms. This post contains affiliate links. These events are made possible through a partnership with the Poe Museum and Heygo/Virtualtrips. Click here for more details and to reserve a spot. Upcoming tour dates: Tuesday, April 20, 2021 @ 4:00 PM ESTThursday, April 29, 2021 @ 3:00 PM EST About the tour One of America’s most famous writers grew up in the historic heart of Richmond–and we will explore it on this tour!…

I love flowers. Giving, receiving, walking in gardens, and those you see at the grocery store or market. The colors and the smells all make me happy. I work hard to make each floral bouquet last when I receive them by changing the water to removing withered stems to help freshen the flowers left in the arrangement. It gives me joy to have them around as long as possible, and then I keep a collection of vases. Credit to: A Homebody’s Adventures blog My friend and fellow blogger, Christina, has a fabulous post about DIY floral bouquets. She originally posted it as a Valentine’s Day feature, however, you can easily adapt it for ANY occasion like Easter (it’s not too late!) or Mother’s Day. Or drop it off at a friend’s house as a sweet surprise. Everyone needs fun surprises in their life! I wanted to share her how-to steps…
