Five good things in our lives are what I am committing to remember about each week in 2021. The past year has been a difficult one world-wide. There’s a lot of negative news and you can dwell on it. I am going to try to celebrate little things even more than I normally would. Practice seeking the good news in life. So, I am sharing my five joys from last week, and I hope you’ll share yours too. Celebrated my mom’s birthday with a seafood lunch and a chocolate fudge cake. We celebrate birthdays in our family with the meal of their choice, cake, candles, a balloon, and singing. No balloons at the moment but always with the Happy Birthday song, whether you’re a toddler or 90 you have to sing it. It’s tradition. STANDS is once again teaming up with the cast and crew of Supernatural for a great cause. Supernatural’s stars regularly use show logos and characters in STANDS merchandise to support non-profits and communities. In the past, they’ve raised money for hunger, hurricane relief, pandemic support, and suicide awareness. Kim Rhodes who played Sheriff Jody Mills for several seasons has teamed up to promote these awesome shirts in addition to more merchandise, this campaign’s proceeds will help support an equine-therapy organization. It is a campaign though so sales for this shirt are limited. Buy yours today! I did. Supernatural is the longest running series on the CW network and gave us 15 amazing seasons. It is hands down my absolute favorite show. I’ve purchased quite a bit of their partner STANDS merchandise over the years and been really pleased with it. I want to point out that I have no affiliation with Stands other then the fact…

We discovered our turkey meatloaf recipe years ago, and it is a tried, true one. We’ve enjoyed it countless times for dinner and included it in meals taken to friends’ houses. You can add comfort sides like mac ‘n cheese, mashed potatoes, or rice and gravy. Serve it with a salad and vegetables. It’s simple to make which is essential as far as we’re concerned at dinner time. We hope you enjoy it and add it to your dinner rotation! You might also like Easy, Savory Fajita Stew. New Year’s Eve is one of my favorite times of the year. Since I can remember, I’ve been fascinated with one year turning into a new one. Seems magical at midnight with the whole world counting down and your calendars changing. A couple of years ago, we bought a new house. I wanted to bless it in every way possible in the new year. And, 2019 turned out miles better than 2020! I found my pictures and post from that year and have added a new goal to the list. The last on the list involves grapes, however, we won’t be doing those this time since I’m not going out to one more grocery store this week. We’ll do it next year. Celebrations may be smaller in 2020 but you can have fun at home with these simple traditions for New Year’s Eve. Travel In many Latin American countries, New…

Imagine walking in an alleyway in Shanghai where people are passing, windows are full of residents going about everyday chores, and shops are busy when you hear a “Miaow”. You can’t locate its source anywhere until you finally look upwards to see a cat perched atop a fruit shop. Marcel Heijnen, a Dutch photographer, experienced this very thing last fall and took the stealthy kitty’s photo. It’s now included in his latest book Spot the Shop Cat that came out this month. Along with Australian illustrator Stephen Case, the duo tells the tale of Spot, a cartoon cat who lives in a dried goods shop. Queen Elizabeth the Second spoke of spreading kindness amongst all nations and people being the light in the world. This year has been one of incredible loss and distance from loved ones yet it has brought everyone together in a united way. We’ve experienced an event that has affected the world and in many ways tied us together. May we continue to be the light in each other’s worlds and remember kindness and compassion as we move towards a better 2021. https://youtu.be/uSftQu9rnBA

Buffy the Vampire Slayer remains one of my two most favorite tv shows of all time. Joss Whedon’s show started it all and was innovative in its day. Before DVRs, iTunes, Netflix, etc., there was Buffy. A show about a blonde teenage girl who was born to fight monsters, especially vampires. Whedon came up with the concept because he was annoyed by the movies where the girl running from the killer ALWAYS trips and gets killed. He wanted the girl to rise up and be the one who slayed the monsters – the one they feared. The show started as a movie with Kristy Swanson and Luke Perry in 1992, and it was the first movie I ever went to by myself. I HAD to see it. It was a revelation for someone raised on fairy tales, Poe, Carroll, and Dracula. I was obsessed. This post contains affiliate links. If…

https://youtu.be/Kq8zqhqjUIo Steven McRae as the Mad Hatter The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party is as wildly fun as you’ve imagined in this scene from the Royal Opera House in London. Steven McRae stars as the fabled Mad Hatter in this 2017 clip of the tea party from The Royal Ballet’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Exciting news! The ballet was on stage in 2017, however, it’s now being streamed online in January 2021! Streaming: Friday, January 1, 2021, 7:00 GMT, broadcast online as part of the Royal Opera House’s #OurHouseToYourHouse series. Available to watch until January 31, 2021. Christopher Wheeldon’s exuberant Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland transports audiences to the riotous world of Lewis Carroll’s characters, including a tap-dancing Mad Hatter and a comically wicked Queen of Hearts. Bob Crowley’s ingenious mixture of traditional and innovative stagecraft together with the pace and colour of Joby Talbot’s score make Alice a gloriously vibrant experience. Packed with clever choreography…

Recently, my friends came through when I asked them about their favorite podcasts. I have only been into podcasts for the past year. Didn’t care for them at first, but now I regularly listen to a few. I received so many recommendations that I am breaking them down into a series of posts. Good problem to have, huh? So, I’ll break the list up to avoid a never-ending single post. The categories are Trashy Fun, Comedy, Murder and True Crime, Supernatural and Bizarre, Racial Injustice, History, Book Reviewers, Film, and Dolly Parton’s America. Podcast Definition Simply put, a podcast is an audio programme, just like Talk Radio, but you subscribe to it on your smartphone and listen to it whenever you…
