I ADORE this cat. If you need a little happiness in these dark days or any days, check out this fabulous cat – Rover the Cat – and his adventures. His people are very talented at capturing his essence. Something I could never repeat with my 2 rescues who have no interest in costumes or walking to a beat. So, I get to visit Rover’s world and that’s happiness in itself for me! https://www.instagram.com/p/B-r9nhTp1X4/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link Reposted from Rover_thecat on InstagramRover is also on Facebook as Rover the Cat Music credit: Brian Friedman

Pounce Cat Cafe was started by 2 best friends who wanted to save cats from the streets and do it in style as a place for both cats and humans to mingle and fall in love. Pounce Cat Cafe + Wine Bar is a great place to visit with 2 locations: Charleston and Savannah. Rescue cats live at their locations and you can visit and enjoy a beverage while picking out a new bestie or simply socialize and have fun. The boys and I had a really nice time last year on spring break at their Charleston spot. They are struggling like all small businesses. One of the ways you can support them is to order merchandise, if not for you, for your kiddos or to cheer someone up during these dark days. Personally, I like the wine coffee mug, cat ears, and sweet beanie. I just wish it got…

We all have our favorite things. I am a big fan of Poe, Alice in Wonderland, Jane Austen, Emily Dickinson, Queen Elizabeth I, and history itself. In fact, this blog could well have been named with a combination of Poe-Alice-Austen since those are my TOP loves. I’m happy to say I’ve found an Etsy artist who satisfies all of these works of fiction and real characters. Tiffini Elektra X has a fabulous (I don’t throw that word around often) shop: Tartx . I have ordered 3 rings from here and they are some of my favorite jewelry. An Edgar Allan Poe ring, Alice and her crown, and I special ordered one of Jane Austen. I love Etsy and most everything I’ve ever purchased has been what I was looking for and I was pleased with the items. Good customer service – the kind you can just feel – is consistent on Etsy. Can’t take it for granted nowadays. I received two Christmas gifts this past year which are favorites. One shop I was new to and one I have used before and will again. Found this by literally keying in Poe and cats to see if there might be a shirt out there. Thanks, theantiantishop! I’ll keep my eye on what you roll out. Love this shirt!! Poe and cats? What’s not to love! theantiantishop The quality and fit of the shirt is good and excited to be wearing it. Tartx I adore my Alice in Wonderland ring from Tartx. I periodically check in on her shop to see what’s new. You can find…

It was my birthday yesterday and while I was out running an errand I had a funny thought. I never go in Whole Foods. Don’t have the budget and I could stay for hours looking at things and don’t have those hours to spare. But, as I was shopping for one thing, a scenario popped in my head about what would I buy if I had an American Express black card and I could hit up Whole Foods< I cannot imagine how much that total would be. Let alone the fact I do not have the space in my house to hold everything I’d buy. Tried to buy cashews and there’s 8+ choices. I just wanted cashews. The tea aisle is a dream for tea connoisseurs. Don’t get me started on all of the natural lotions and organic home products. I could lotion ingredients for days. Cypress Grove Lamb Chopper…

On the surface Atlanta, with a population climbing more than 498,000, seems like a big city. In reality, you can go to an art show on a Friday night in an in town neighborhood and run into intersections of people you know. There’s a saying and it goes it may be a big city but it’s really a series of small towns. Different Trains Gallery held a pop up art show at 378 in Candler Park on Friday, January 24th, and they were guaranteed certain success with the ingredients they used. First, 378 is a nice sized gallery space with a downstairs area for performances. Next, the artists they chose were very talented and had good ties to the community along with lots of friends and family who love them. And last but not least, Clay Harper and Kevn Kinney performed. It was cold outside and rained intermittently but no…

I recently flew to Richmond, Virginia, to attend the annual Birthday Bash for Edgar Allan Poe. It is held at the Poe Museum. I stayed at the Berkeley Hotel which is a 12 minute walk from the museum. The Berkeley is located in the Shockoe Slip area in the business district. Fashionable Shockoe Slip is a downtown dining hub, with Southern-style restaurants, BBQ joints, gastropubs, and taprooms tucked down narrow alleyways and in former warehouses. The original owner was careful to fashion it architecturally after the other historic buildings in the area. Alan M. Voorhees designed it to be in a European style and named it after the Berkeley Castle and Plantation in England. Mr. Malcom Jamieson, the…
