Each week of 2021 I am going to do my best to record what positive things happen each week. We all want to have a better year then 2020. Let's hope for change in the world. You can find negative news without much effort and I am trying to focus on the happier things to boost my days. These are my five things from the last week, and I encourage you to find the things that make you happy. Our mental health is so essential now more than ever.

Nicoletta Ceccoli creates beautifully subtle illustrations you see most often as tarot cards, however, they are limited edition prints available for sale and books as well. Her surrealistic images convey a dreamlike quality with icy subjects and the admirers surrounding them. Beautiful to look at yet what are you really seeing? I look for her art to pop up on my Pinterest every day and pin it to a board I dedicated for her artwork. It makes me happy. I've posted her work on Instagram and happily surprised she has a good following for her tarot cards.

We celebrated Martin Luther King, Jr day last week, gained a new administration, and a national introduction to the power of Amanda Gorman‘s words. Gorman at 22 is the youngest National Poet Laureate to recite at an inauguration. She was electrifying. She created her “The Hill We Climb” after witnessing the horrible images of the storming of the capitol on January 6th. Watch her amazing performance at our earlier link.

Jane Austen quote: “Perfect happiness, even in memory, is not common:” from Emma
Perfect happiness is hard to find. Those moments for me aren't necessarily big occasions. If I recall them at all, they're small moments, little things. Grand moments can be very memorable, but I thrive in the small ones. Holding hands at an unexpected moment with your husband or child, drinking cocktails in a grand hotel lobby at Christmas time while people-watching, or seeing your child look for you and only you in a crowd.

Favorite part of the past week and a half is finding answers at the end of a 2-year journey. Hallelujah! My web host provider is Bluehost.com. They have excellent service in themselves. You can call 24/7 and they will work with you on what you need. In speaking to reps at Bluehost, I was offered their Blue Sky service. It is expensive so I was skeptical at first since I wasn't sure I wanted to too much monthly for WordPress assistance. Ladies and gents, I am now a BIG believer. As a member of the service, you are allowed to call as many times as you want for 30-minute calls at a time. I had a huge challenge with my WordPress site and could not figure it out. Long hours of YouTube and Google research and losing loads of time. Today, I can tell you that I have a brand, spanking new theme with lots of upgrades, my plugins have been audited more than once to ensure they are not conflicting with one another, and have a better understanding of what the heck is going on in my site. Blue Sky reps are courteous, knowledgeable, and help you get things done. I cannot recommend it enough.

And finally, one thing should bring you joy every day. Person, pet, book, tv show, or a Raven glitter globe. I snagged a beautiful skull and raven black glitter globe in October 2019 and its presence makes me feel happy every single day. Just to give it a shake and watch the black glitter floating down around the raven. It sits in my bathroom along with Poe's bust, books, and 2 other raven statues. Goth and black glitter make me happy!

Be mindful as you move forward in this uncertain year that we are all experiencing stress, anger, fear, and instability, but we can actively look for those things that soothe us and make us smile. That's my goal for 2021.

  1. J, love this! I think I need to find my own version of a raven snow globe for my desk to help ground me and remind me of all the good things!

  2. It does make you happy to have something, even a little statue or picture, that you see every day to give you a lift. We all need it, don’t we?
