Searching for activities during a world-wide pandemic for your family to do isn’t an easy task. We’re all looking for fresh air with outdoor exploration to get us out of our houses. We’d visited Build an Ark Animal Rescue in Ellijay, Georgia, for the first time last fall, and on Sunday, we decided to drive up from Atlanta to see the animals again. It’s a large property so being outdoors and wearing masks when necessary wasn’t that hard to do. Susan Littlejohn founded the rescue in 1993 in Rome, Georgia, later moving to the mountains of Ellijay. Tom fed Bella who’s a pot bellied pig who much prefers fruit over veggies. She allowed me to pet her…

Came downstairs today to a wonderful Mother’s Day surprise. The boys surprised me with tulips and a charcuterie board? Not an item I expected yet really enjoyed. I love surprises – the good kind. John, my husband, ordered it from a new company in Atlanta called The Charcuterie Chick. Alex Plavin creates custom charcuterie and cheese boards with seasonal ingredients. [envira-gallery id=’3842′] I love pink. The board and crackers came wrapped very nicely in pink tissue paper and pink and white colored boxes tied with ribbons. Perfect for me. It was a pretty display with the tulips and wine. My favorite wine by the way is Dr. L Riesling. So, at 2:00, we broke it open and paired it with everything on the board. John and I did – not the under aged teens in the house. Highly recommend for a personal treat or to entertain your guests. Welcome The…

Children need art and stories and poems and music as much as they need love and food and fresh air and play. If you don’t give a child food, the damage quickly becomes visible. If you don’t let a child have fresh air and play, the damage is also visible, but not so quickly. If you don’t give a child love, the damage might not be seen for some years, but it’s permanent. But if you don’t give a child art and stories and poems and music, the damage is not so easy to see. It’s there, though. Their bodies are healthy enough; they can run and jump and swim and eat hungrily and make lots of noise, as children have always done, but something is missing. It’s true that some people grow up never encountering art of any kind, and are perfectly happy and live good and valuable lives,…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-w3q8m7Htc Visit with some furry friends for a bit The kids and I were looking for a place near where we live that wasn’t a long drive to visit animals. Specifically, alpacas. We knew there were places in Georgia where you could see them. After a quick Google search, we found Creekwater Alpaca Farm in Snellville, Georgia. It’s located on a large 20 year old farm and is home to a big herd of alpacas who are sweet and gentle and absolutely love to be fed by hand. Here’s the farm’s description of themselves on their Facebook page: “Creekwater Alpaca Farm is located in Snellville, GA and has been in business for over 20 years. Our farm is filled with Alpacas, a native animal to Peru, that produces some of the softest fiber in the world. They are kind and loving animals. Our farm consists of other animals as well…
