Businesses every day are struggling and quickly adapting their operations to survive in the Coronavirus pandemic. If you’re not an essential worker, you are probably quarantining yourself and loved ones at home. You might be online and worried about your favorite business or organization making the cut with tough times. Wondering how you can help them. Turns out employers and employees are finding creative ways to support themselves and YOU can make a difference. Virtual shopping can be both a lifesaver and fun. Creekwater Alpaca Farm in Snellville, Georgia One of our favorite places to visit is Creekwater Alpaca Farm located right outside Atlanta. It’s a fantastic place with alpacas, pigs, rabbits, a LOUD rooster, quinea fowl, goats, and the caretakers who love it. They were really hit hard and facing an animal food shortage so they started a GoFundMe campaign. Then, they began to offer Zoom barn tours. We…

Pounce Cat Cafe was started by 2 best friends who wanted to save cats from the streets and do it in style as a place for both cats and humans to mingle and fall in love. Pounce Cat Cafe + Wine Bar is a great place to visit with 2 locations: Charleston and Savannah. Rescue cats live at their locations and you can visit and enjoy a beverage while picking out a new bestie or simply socialize and have fun. The boys and I had a really nice time last year on spring break at their Charleston spot. They are struggling like all small businesses. One of the ways you can support them is to order merchandise, if not for you, for your kiddos or to cheer someone up during these dark days. Personally, I like the wine coffee mug, cat ears, and sweet beanie. I just wish it got…

I love Etsy and most everything I’ve ever purchased has been what I was looking for and I was pleased with the items. Good customer service – the kind you can just feel – is consistent on Etsy. Can’t take it for granted nowadays. I received two Christmas gifts this past year which are favorites. One shop I was new to and one I have used before and will again. Found this by literally keying in Poe and cats to see if there might be a shirt out there. Thanks, theantiantishop! I’ll keep my eye on what you roll out. Love this shirt!! Poe and cats? What’s not to love! theantiantishop The quality and fit of the shirt is good and excited to be wearing it. Tartx I adore my Alice in Wonderland ring from Tartx. I periodically check in on her shop to see what’s new. You can find…

It was my birthday yesterday and while I was out running an errand I had a funny thought. I never go in Whole Foods. Don’t have the budget and I could stay for hours looking at things and don’t have those hours to spare. But, as I was shopping for one thing, a scenario popped in my head about what would I buy if I had an American Express black card and I could hit up Whole Foods< I cannot imagine how much that total would be. Let alone the fact I do not have the space in my house to hold everything I’d buy. Tried to buy cashews and there’s 8+ choices. I just wanted cashews. The tea aisle is a dream for tea connoisseurs. Don’t get me started on all of the natural lotions and organic home products. I could lotion ingredients for days. Cypress Grove Lamb Chopper…

We love visiting Chattanooga, Tennessee. It’s a quick getaway from Atlanta and very affordable to stay. The city offers numerous festivals and events throughout the year along with beautiful Cooledge Park to play with kids that’s located beside the Tennessee river. There’s an incredible antique carousel in the park that all ages can ride and we’ve done so many times over the years and it’s only about $1.00 to ride!. Our kids played for hours one hot summer day at the splash pad and fountains in the park. Connecting the park from the North Shore to downtown is the Walnut Street Bridge and it is one of my favorite places in the city. Photo Credit: Atlas Obscura site It is one of the world’s…

Had a great time strolling through a local antique and flea market yesterday. The indoor ones are convenient to get to with their fixed locations and hours. You can ask for a map and see what booths you’re interested in and plot your shopping strategy. Yesterday, we saw everything from $1.68 deodarant to furniture and vintage items, including Halloween. The one we visited was Unique Treasures in Snellville, Georgia. Do a little research and travel around Georgia and across the U.S. to find even more treasure. 15 Best Flea Markets in Georgia by the Crazy Tourist The Top 10 Flea Markets in the United States Our finds at Unique Treasures [envira-gallery id=’2064′] [envira-gallery id=’2072′]

Everyone loves a bargain or a price steal. I imagine if you had millions you’d still enjoy saving money or if not, the hunt for treasure might thrill you. Looking for deals in thrift stores has always been around, but today more stores are evolving into vehicles for good. There are buy out-right stores, consignment and resale ones, however true thrift stores utilize funds for charities or non-profit organizations (source: What’s the Difference Between a Goodwill Store and a Thrift Store). Goodwill has been raising money as a thrift store organization since 1902 and providing support to food banks, shelters, and meeting community needs. In 2019, more shoppers are frequenting stores and they are discerning not only about what they want but who the stores donate proceeds to. Shopping for a social cause is desirable. We’re highlighting some key Atlanta stores here, but let’s talk about WHAT people find appealing…
