Part of the joy of being a blogger is spending time in coffee houses working. I recently visited a cafe in Lawrenceville, Georgia that has a relaxing vibe and cats. Yes, 4 cats live in the cafe and you can pet them and hang out. The Catfe is located in an older, beautifully decorated house – a little oasis in itself.

As you walk in, you can follow the paws to the entrance. A cute touch.

When you walk into the entrance, you'll find the kitchen and menu boards. I've been twice and had a chai latte and their delicious meat and cheese boards. Sandwiches, snacks, desserts, wine, and beer are all available to patrons. The cafe or “Catfe” has a lovely home-like atmosphere with a touch of glamor.

The owners Brittany and Roger traveled around Europe and visited a cafe in Rome. A cafe with a cat and an idea was born to bring a gathering place similar to it back to the U.S. Their mission is to foster a sense of community, one where people come together and talk or simply relax around one another.

Cinnamon is very friendly and will climb in your laptop bag if you let her. I spoke with another guest who's a regular visitor and she told me about this kitty's fondness for bags. She once almost walked out with her because Cinnamon was in her bag! She's a sweetie and not a bad co-worker.

Sugar's fur is so soft and has ruffles.

Basticat's bengal marks are striking and he's gorgeous.

Biscuit's size is deceiving here. He is one chonk of a cat!

The owners focus on supporting area businesses. They provide locally sourced beer from breweries in Atlanta, Tucker, Lawrenceville, and Woodstock like Monday Night Brewing. Their coffee roaster of choice is Phoenix Roasters. Phoenix engages in direct trade with underdeveloped communities. I did not realize that “direct trade” is a way for a company to pay farmers directly thereby increasing their finances.

I can personally attest that their cheese and meat boards are delicious. You can order a combination of cheese and select meats. The Catfe gets their meats from Volpi who locally source their meat and never use hormones, antibiotics, or pesticides. Volpi likes its partner businesses to support local sources and vendors. Continuing Catfe's own desire to support their community.

Similar to cat coffeehouses in Europe and Japan you can enjoy time with others and get your feline fix at the same time. Sip a glass of wine and savor a piece of house-made from scratch pie. I've enjoyed visiting this unique place with one of my boys and by myself working. I've talked to other patrons. It's definitely a place I'll come to blog more and get a change of scenery. Try it for yourself and I hope you like it as much as I do.
