Summer has been busy around here. It's been chock full of travel and reunions with family and friends. Grateful for everything going on and trying to cram in more before all 3 boys start back to school.

Friends

Photograph of the blog post author with 3 friends.

Seeing friends for coffee, dinners, and events has been so much fun. Being able to sit across from each other in restaurants and in our houses has been a treat. We're all vaccinated and have been careful about interactions. A joy to be together again. The above photograph is of a coffee tasting we did together in June. You can find the story behind it here.

Family

Reunions continue to be a theme to the summer. The boys and I traveled south to Alabama to see my husband's mother who we hadn't seen since Thanksgiving 2019. Family reunions were big in June amongst friends – at least judging by Facebook. Happy news. We went out to eat, bowled, swam, and enjoyed each other's company. Long-awaited trip.

New Kitten

We welcomed a new kitten in June. Binx Graham arrived from a foster home. He is 14 weeks old and a bit runty. A bottle-fed foster and full of energy. He's wild and giving our 8-year-old tortoiseshell cat a run for her money. After an initial dicey introduction, they get along great now. Except for his 2 AM nuttiness, it's been a ball.

Savannah Trip

John and I celebrated our 20th anniversary by taking a trip to the great southern city of Savannah, Georgia. Good food and another stay at the Planters Inn on Reynolds Square. We stayed at the inn back in 2019 and our review of it can be found at this link. We started our visit with our traditional stop at Moon River Brewery. One of the most haunted places in America which is the reason I like to eat there along with the food and atmosphere. Visited Tybee Island's Crab Shack. The food was so delicious. Toured the Tybee Island Lighthouse and learned about the history of the lighthouse keeper's duties and family life. Shopped at the awesome store A Christmas on the River. Already bought a sugar skull ornament that's going up year-round in the house. Savannah has become one of our favorite destination cities.
