American Branding Designs has made two tumblers I adore. One a good friend gave me one day during the pandemic. It was a gift out of the blue and really lifted my spirits. The second one was an item I saw on their site and knew I had to have it. You know the feeling. They create unique designs on their site and do customization too.

My first tumbler is a well loved Poe one from my friend Liz.

Once I received my first tumbler, I checked out the company and talked with the owner about her work. Mio designs custom t-shirts and promotional items too.

We like your logo. What’s the concept for it?

My daughter had told me to think about things that I liked.  So after some thought, I just tapped into my love of gothic aesthetic (the raven), and the key symbol of success, something I aspire to with the start of my business and combined the symbols into what the logo is today.

A little something about myself, I am a retired EMT, I worked for NYC Fire Dept. and for private hospitals in N.Y.  I had a work-related injury and had to have surgery, the reason I retired (non 9/11 related).  I was present on ground zero on 9/11.   It is something that still haunts me.  But, after I retired, crafting and creating things was of great therapy for me.

We like your opening statement on your website's Home page. Can you explain what you mean by “patriotic” and “odd minds”?

Patriotic came to mind because of the love I have for my country.  An odd mind is how I kind of see myself – dark sense of humor, unique or quirky and goofy inspirations and ideas.  So add the two together, and that’s what you get.

In 2000, you talked about an idea being born when you crossed paths with talented artists and you found a way to combine fashion and a way to benefit those in need. What happened in 2000 that sparked your business?

My husband was president of a motorcycle club and it all started wanting to make shirts to help a child with hospital bills and helping Veterans in need, and it just expanded to different creative paths.

Who are the “indigenous artisans” you support?

My inspiration comes from the artists in the dark and pagan world – sometimes, those artists like to reflect the indigenous cultures of the world; grand headdresses, predatory eagles zeroing in on their prey; anything that speaks to me, I draw inspiration from and apply to my creations.

Thinking about your designs, what would be a fun choice of yours (yours not a request) for a tumbler in the following categories: band, scary movie, tv show?

Absolutely!  I would love to make a Gustav Klimt design (one of my favorite artists); I think that would be an amazing and unique tumbler design.  Hannibal is one of my favorite shows, so I would love to create a Hannibal Lector cup soon.  And, the movie “ To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything!” – I am really looking forward to making a tumbler with Chi-Chi, Vida and Noxeema!

American Branding Designs does amazing work, easy to work with and answers all of your questions. And, now we come to the tumbler I had to have! Goth Queens unite! Still a goth girl at hear 🙂
