Here at Poe in Wonderland we support large and small businesses, and especially like to highlight small ones. Etsy is always a great place to find unique items. Etsy is also good about informing its affiliates about shops to know. Recently, they sent out notices about black-owned shops and we thought you’d like to know about them, and hopefully patronize them. From jewelry to wonderful paintings to vintage wear, these shops have it all. So, please check them out today, and happy shopping! This post contains affiliate links. This is a sponsored post on behalf of KittyNook. I received the product in exchange for this review but all opinions are my own and were not influenced in any way. KittyNook is an online pet store for cats with toys, harnesses, walking leashes, bowls, beds, and more. Their website blog offers posts about International Cat Day, cat health, safety, and ways you can play with and enrich their lives. We have two cat rescues here at Poe in Wonderland – Zazzles (tortoiseshell) and Binx (jet black). I and all three of my sons volunteered for 11 years with one of the southeast’s largest pet organizations Furkids. To say we like cats is an understatement. We have an earlier post you can read here where we tried out their laser cat toy. We were so pleased with it that we wanted to test out another one. So, Zazzles and Binx tried the Mr.…

Valentine’s Day is around the corner so we thought we’d find some gift ideas. We decided to focus on gifts for the home from a cozy blanket to decor to a unique candle. There’s a range of items to choose from here. We chose Etsy because independent artists and makers sell their handmade goods and we want to support them. Please consider giving them your business today by purchasing a gift from the list below. This post contains affiliate links. I love rings and necklaces. They are my main pieces of jewelry. I wear earrings but keep those simple so when I want to put on rings and necklaces I want them to make a statement. I ran across Mica Bones on Instagram and it was love at first sight. Mica makes unique, one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry and they are beautiful and bold and definitely make a statement. For the purposes of this post, one-of-a-kind means not mass-produced. She may make more than one piece the same or as a custom order, but you can be assured she isn’t creating hundreds of a particular piece. I was lucky enough to get an interview with this talented silversmith and wanted to feature her work. She’s created 2 custom pieces for me – a ring and a necklace – and I couldn’t be happier with the quality and look of them. My…

Lovepop 3D cards are laser cut and intricately made to really make a statement. They are beautiful and it’s simply a joy to receive one in the mail. We’ve been fortunate as an affiliate to receive several of their cards. We’ve kept their Baby Yoda one and given as gifts the cherry blossom and mixed floral bouquet. It’s Halloween season and our favorite time of the year so we thought we’d post about Lovepop’s fall and Halloween collections and show you some of what they offer. Oakland Cemetery’s Sunday in the Park is returning this Sunday, September 26th, for its 43rd year. Every fall, the Historic Oakland Foundation has hosted this annual Victorian festival. It’s built on a tradition of people visiting their dead when they would picnic next to the graves and bring refreshments or sit on the lawns and enjoy the green space. Sunday in the Park is one of many events Oakland hosts throughout the year. This year the event will also feature their music festival Tunes from the Tomb. It’s an outdoor experience not to be missed in Atlanta! Credit: Jennifer Graham Oakland Cemetery’s description: “Enjoy the sunset over the Atlanta skyline as the music flows from Oakland’s North Public Grounds. Headlining this year’s Tunes from the Tombs music festival are The Original Wailers and Jupiter Coyote. You’ll also enjoy pop-up performances throughout the day.
