It’s that wonderful time of year when there’s a crispness in the air and all the ghoulies come out to celebrate Halloween. Here in Atlanta there are two fun parades that will put you in the holiday spirit. The Decatur Haints and Saints parade and the Little 5 Points Halloween Festival and parade. The Placita Latina Day of the Dead/Haints and Saints Parade will be on Sunday, October 30th, in downtown Decatur. They will start at the Bell Street entrance of the Decatur Cemetery and wind their way through the streets to the courthouse. It’s a tradition that started with one man. “Decatur is rich with parade history beginning way back in 1899 with Maury Mable. Ole’ Maury donned his black silk top hat and paraded down Ponce de Leon Ave annually for 51 years. Sometimes the parades were huge; sometimes they were just him! Rolling holiday parades have been scarce…

Lovepop 3D cards are laser cut and intricately made to really make a statement. They are beautiful and it’s simply a joy to receive one in the mail. We’ve been fortunate as an affiliate to receive several of their cards. We’ve kept their Baby Yoda one and given as gifts the cherry blossom and mixed floral bouquet. It’s Halloween season and our favorite time of the year so we thought we’d post about Lovepop’s fall and Halloween collections and show you some of what they offer. The Capturing the Spirit of Oakland tour held at Atlanta’s Oakland Cemetery is back for its 15th year and will be held in person. The tour is one of the most popular events held in Atlanta in October. The spirits of the residents appear on their burial plots to tell you their stories and the history of Georgia during their time on earth. More historical than frightening, it’s an amazing annual opportunity to stroll through the cemetery in the dark with paths lit only by lantern carrying docents and the residents’ plots. The docents and performers are all dressed in period costumes which adds atmosphere to the evening. At night, the backlit city of Atlanta is beautiful to see as you stand among the living and the dead. This will be the 7th time we’ve participated in the tour! In a normal year, we’d drive down into the city and…
