Atlanta's Rhodes Family Bakery has been serving incredible baked goods since 1930. The founder of the bakery Magdaline Rhodes, an Atlanta native, began baking and selling desserts out of her home after the Stock Market Crash of 1929 and the advent of the Great Depression. Our family loves their cakes (and cheese straws) and each one of us looks forward to our birthday cakes. We talk about designs we've thought of at least a month out! My husband and I have spent the past 8 years keeping our birthday decorating ideas for each other a surprise, and Rhodes has never let us down.
Rhodes received a kind and generous gift today. As you know with this world-wide pandemic, we need every good scrap of news we can get.
“The gentleman on the far right is named Geoff Friedman. During the pandemic like most folks he needed to find something to do with his time. He started walking. He wanted his walking to have purpose so he asked his friends if they wanted to “sponsor” him for how many miles he walked and ALL the money would be donated to a small business. Geoff walked 219 miles in April and thru his and his friends generosity he dropped off a check today in the amount of $5,500. We can not begin to thank him and his friends enough!!! How truly amazing that a stranger would think that much of our business. It is an amazing thing they have done for us. There are great people out in the world doing great things and Geoff and Hope Friedman are very special people. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you!!”
