Charleston in the spring is glory to behold. Flowers are blooming, the weather is warm, dining outdoors is heaven at night, and you get to experience the lowcountry at its best. We took a family trip the first weekend in May. It was a mixed bag of good and bad experiences, but wouldn’t trade it for anything. This post contains affiliate links. We’ve been visiting Charleston for over 33 years and the majority of those visits have been wonderful, however, the start of this particular trip was a disaster. I never post negative things because that isn’t what this blog is about, but sometimes it’s necessary. I reserved our stay in plenty of time. We arrived…

A brand new shirt design is arriving in our Poe in Wonderland shop next week! Our shirts are made by Hipkraft.com and are so comfy with their relaxed vneck fit. We use rhinestones and crystals to broadcast our logos and designs. Showing our joy. The shirts are true to size fit. The latest shirt is the “Vaccinated!” tee. It should drop in our shop within the next few days so check back. You may like our other styles too in our Shop. Have a lovely weekend!

The month of May celebrates Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders’ heritage. We would really like to feature AAPI artists, writers, and lifestyle bloggers. Please comment below if you have recommendations for people we can contact. We’d like to post about 3-4 individuals. . I took the Tell-Tale Heart Richmond tour today that we talked about earlier this week. It was a livestream event created via a partnership between the Poe Museum and Heygo.com. I’d never used Heygo and have to say I may be hooked if their other tours are as entertaining. I signed up for this particular event because it was about places around Richmond to visit that were there in Poe’s day. Dean Knight, Programs Coordinator at the museum and a theatre actor, did an excellent job. He’s also a tour guide in the city so fun to listen to since he entertains you with facts and recites poetry. Can’t go wrong with that combination! You still have time to take the Tell-Tale Heart tour on Thursday, April 22nd, at 3 PM EST. Highly recommend it! Heygo connects people from around the world through tours where they can log into their…

The Tell-Tale Heart of Richmond is a virtual tour of the historic town where Edgar Allan Poe grew up, fell in love, socialized, and worked. It will be a 45-minute virtual, live-streamed event directly from Richmond and allow viewers to interact with the guide and others. The tours are tip-supported. “Tip-Supported” means that they are offered free of charge to make them more accessible to everyone, but tipping the guides is a welcome way to “support” them and enable them to offer more tours. These events are made possible through a partnership with the Poe Museum and Heygo/Virtualtrips. Click here for more details and to reserve a spot. Upcoming tour dates: Tuesday, April 20, 2021 @ 4:00 PM ESTThursday, April 29, 2021 @ 3:00 PM EST About the tour One of America’s most famous writers grew up in the historic heart of Richmond–and we will explore it on this tour!…

I love flowers. Giving, receiving, walking in gardens, and those you see at the grocery store or market. The colors and the smells all make me happy. I work hard to make each floral bouquet last when I receive them by changing the water to removing withered stems to help freshen the flowers left in the arrangement. It gives me joy to have them around as long as possible, and then I keep a collection of vases. Credit to: A Homebody’s Adventures blog My friend and fellow blogger, Christina, has a fabulous post about DIY floral bouquets. She originally posted it as a Valentine’s Day feature, however, you can easily adapt it for ANY occasion like Easter (it’s not too late!) or Mother’s Day. Or drop it off at a friend’s house as a sweet surprise. Everyone needs fun surprises in their life! I wanted to share her how-to steps…
