Every year the Poe Museum in Richmond, Virginia hosts an annual birthday bash for their namesake Edgar Allan Poe. It’s usually a one day celebration but this year at the close of their centennial they are having a 3-day long party! Saturday and Sunday will be all day affairs with live music, food trucks, libations, performances, tours, and more. We’re providing the Saturday schedule to give you a sense of what the events look like and we’ve added in the links to the lineup for Sunday and Monday. We’ve gone to 2 birthday bashes, and while we can’t make it this year, we hope to go to many in the future. From the museum -Come celebrate Edgar Allan Poe’s 214th birthday! Looking for something to spread misery this month. The Poe Museum in Richmond is celebrating their centennial this year and we couldn’t be happier – or miserable. We’ll be celebrating on April 28th at our Unhappy Hour at the museum with music, libations, trivia, a 1920’s costume contents, food trucks, and more. You will be among the first to view rare items such as Edgar Allan Poe’s pocket watch, his fiance’s engagement ring, a piece of Poe’s coffin, and much more… This event is hosted at the Poe Museum on April 28th, 2022. Happy 213th Birthday Edgar Allan Poe! We wouldn’t live up to our blog name if we didn’t celebrate the master of the macabre. In a normal – non-pandemic – year, I’d fly up to the Poe Museum in Richmond and attend the all-day birthday bash they hold for this special occasion. 12 hours on a Saturday of tours, lectures, bands, and performers, and even a giant birthday cake. It is a lot of fun and meaningful for a dedicated Poe fan or one who wants to learn more about him. Due to the ongoing health crisis in the world, the museums had to adapt and move to virtual activities. I feel a lot like the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland running all around and out of time for most everything. I am a little late in telling you about a fabulous festival that’s held every year in Atlanta where the arts community showcases the power of photography in our lives. The month of October in Atlanta has an exciting event known as the Atlanta Celebrates Photography Festival (ACPFest). Artists from around the southeast contribute work that’s displayed in exhibitions held just about anywhere around town. Georgia State University, the Atlanta Photography Group Gallery, the heart of Midtown with a mural, art galleries, public art spaces, libraries, shop windows – so many shows to see.
