Marvelous Monday is our brand spanking new name for our former “Monday Madness” feature. Madness was a play on the Mad Hatter’s tea party from Alice in Wonderland. We don’t want readers to mistake the feature and view it in a negative light so we thought a change would be needed. The goal, however, remains the same. This post contains affiliate links. If you click a link and make a purchase, Poe in Wonderland will earn a small commission for the referral at no cost to you. Marvelous Monday is here! The concept is simple and stress-free. I’m inviting my tea party friends – readers and friends – to post good things in their life on Mondays. Grab a macaroon and a cup of tea and join us. Or a cupcake. Whatever suits your fancy. Let’s dish! This week we’re talking about a popular resource for bloggers. The Thrive Blogging…
Part of the joy of being a blogger is spending time in coffee houses working. I recently visited a cafe in Lawrenceville, Georgia that has a relaxing vibe and cats. Yes, 4 cats live in the cafe and you can pet them and hang out. The Catfe is located in an older, beautifully decorated house – a little oasis in itself. This post contains affiliate banner links. Love all things fall? My friend Sarah from That Lemonade Life wrote about 6 wonderful, fun traditions her friends celebrate every year. We were lucky enough to be included with our Halloween Tours at Oakland Cemetery tradition. Take the time to read Sarah’s article because you might want to start incorporating these ideas into your own favorite season. This is a sponsored post on behalf of KittyNook. I received the product in exchange for this review but all opinions are my own and were not influenced in any way. KittyNook is an online pet store for cats with toys, harnesses, walking leashes, bowls, beds, and more. Their website blog offers posts about International Cat Day, cat health, safety, and ways you can play with and enrich their lives. We have two cat rescues here at Poe in Wonderland – Zazzles (tortoiseshell) and Binx (jet black). I and all three of my sons volunteered for 11 years with one of the southeast’s largest pet organizations Furkids. To say we like cats is an understatement. Recently, we saw a spooky Halloween shirt with a black cat and a smart robot-like cat laser toy we had to try. Zazzles and Binx First, we’ll show you the unboxing of the Invigorating Cat…
The Good News Network is a website dedicated to positive news. It started in 1997 as a way to spread good news as opposed to the heavy focus by the media on negative news. If you’re like us, most of the stories popping up in your news feed tend to be ones that can bring you down if you let them. We want to hear fun, affirming ones that brighten our day and help us see the world as one we want to walk out into. So, we visited the site today and found 4 stories we wanted to share. The Roly Poly Ole Beach Ball in WisconsinA large beach ball escaped a yard and soon tumbled around a town in Wisconsin. The sight of it made residents happy, and they started signing it and moving it from location to location. It’s suffered a few mishaps, but kind people have…
The month of May celebrates Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders’ heritage. We would really like to feature AAPI artists, writers, and lifestyle bloggers. Please comment below if you have recommendations for people we can contact. We’d like to post about 3-4 individuals. . My Supernatural shirt from Stands arrived today and I am so excited to wear it! Supernatural’s stars regularly use show logos and characters in STANDS merchandise to support non-profits and communities. In the past, they’ve raised money for hunger, hurricane relief, pandemic support, and suicide awareness. Kim Rhodes who played Sheriff Jody Mills for several seasons teamed up and promoted these awesome shirts in addition to more merchandise, this campaign’s proceeds helped support an equine-therapy organization. I get alerts on merchandise whenever it becomes available. Love wearing fun shirts and it feels even better when you helped an organization out! Support Your Local Murder? What are we talking about here? It’s a play on words and imagery. The average person might be appalled and think you literally mean “murder”, but you don’t. Crows in a group are called by the ancient term “A Murder of Crows”. It’s a fun way to tie-in…
View of Lake Lucerne from Alcove Coffeehouse 4615 Stone Mountain Hwy, Suite B, Lilburn, Georgia One of my favorite places to hang out while I work is Alcove Coffeehouse in Lilburn. I’ve been going since they’ve moved locations over the years. First, in Tucker on Idlewood Rd, then on Lavista Rd near the Mellow Mushroom, and now in their current spot on Lake Lucerne. The view is gorgeous from the windows as you work on your laptop, read or chat with friends. [envira-gallery id=’2587′] It’s fairly quiet in the morning to midday. Alcove is independently owned and serves specialty coffee roasted in Atlanta along with their delicious teas. If you’re peckish, they offer pastries, sandwiches, salads, and snacks. I usually order a scone with a chai and perch by the big windows facing the lake. The staff are warm, polite, and they get to the point after a few visits where they know…
Universal Pictures My friend, Lane, and I love to see movies together. We’ve hit up some good ones over the past few years. Recently, Crazy Rich Asians and Rocketman. After all of the steroid holiday hype of Last Christmas with Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding, we decided it was one we had to check out. Lane watched all of Game of Thrones (me only here and there) with Emilia Clarke and we both love Henry Golding from Crazy Rich Asians. It still amazes me that was his debut movie – or at least his first big role. Emilia Clarke as Kate in “Last Christmas,” directed by Paul Feig. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9CEIcmWmtA Great holiday rom-com! Best Christmas movie ever. …dripping with holiday sweetness Worth Giving your Heart To These are some of the promotions on social media and tv/radio to get you over the top excited. You have to know it isn’t going…
