Ten good things I’ve experienced end of January and half of February are here. I was making an effort to post about five things every week, but I’ve fallen down on the job. Time to get back up. I’m hoping anyone reading my good things will record theirs either in a journal or post. We need happy things these days as we move forward in 2021. Photo Credit: Laurie Williamson (his mom) Spike Williamson is my buddy. Known him for at least 7 years or so. He’s feisty and will act like you’re meeting for the first time every time you see him outdoors. However, if you go into his house and sit on a sofa, he’s your best friend, especially if belly rubs are included. His mom, Laurie, and I walk once or twice a week. It’s kept us sane and active during this neverending pandemic. There are days…
Valentine’s Day is almost here! If you’re looking for ideas for the two of you and want something homemade, Sarah at ThatLemonadeLife.com has a deliciously easy post about setting up a dessert bar. She planned hers around the winter holidays but emphasizes this dessert bar can be changed up for any occasion. We heartedly agree so we’re happy to include it on our blog. Sarah has wonderful posts about home decor, recipes, lifestyle articles, and more. Please visit and support her work! How to Set Up an Easy Dessert Bar by Sarah at ThatLemonadeLife.com Have you heard of dessert bars before? I’ve seen them at big parties and always thought what a great idea! A dessert bar is basically a big smorgasbord of different desserts for people to choose what they want. But what’s also great about dessert bars, is that you can make them as big or as small…
I love creating centerpieces around my house. All over my house on end tables, coffee tables, and bookcases, you’ll find vignettes arranged with stacked books, candles and candle holders, pictures, key pieces. Vignettes can be arranged on any surface, however, a centerpiece is the focal point or center of a table. Creating centerpieces is one of my favorite hobbies. Holidays are the most fun. In an upcoming post, I’ll cover how to do these step by step along with tablescapes. Here’s my current Valentine’s Day design. I used a round metal and wood tray I searched high and low for and found at a local At Home store. I’d originally hunted it down for a Thanksgiving centerpiece but have since used it for Christmas and Valentine’s. St. Patrick’s Day will probably be next. Candle holders are my big love so I included 3 of varying sizes in different finishes for…
Valentine’s Day is for lovers, friends, and families, including furry ones. Popped into a local Homegoods store today to check out what’s available for the holiday. The mix of red, yellow, and pink colors made me happy so I snapped images of what I liked to use as a little visual post. A kickoff to more as we move towards the month of February. [envira-gallery id=’7217′] [envira-gallery id=’7227′] [envira-gallery id=’7232′] I have yet to understand the appeal of the gnomes in all seasonal decorations? Can anyone explain why? When did they start mixing in with every holiday and who’s buying them? Curious.

Five good things in our lives are what I am committing to remember about each week in 2021. The past year has been a difficult one world-wide. There’s a lot of negative news and you can dwell on it. I am going to try to celebrate little things even more than I normally would. Practice seeking the good news in life. So, I am sharing my five joys from last week, and I hope you’ll share yours too. Celebrated my mom’s birthday with a seafood lunch and a chocolate fudge cake. We celebrate birthdays in our family with the meal of their choice, cake, candles, a balloon, and singing. No balloons at the moment but always with the Happy Birthday song, whether you’re a toddler or 90 you have to sing it. It’s tradition. STANDS is once again teaming up with the cast and crew of Supernatural for a great cause. Supernatural’s stars regularly use show logos and characters in STANDS merchandise to support non-profits and communities. In the past, they’ve raised money for hunger, hurricane relief, pandemic support, and suicide awareness. Kim Rhodes who played Sheriff Jody Mills for several seasons has teamed up to promote these awesome shirts in addition to more merchandise, this campaign’s proceeds will help support an equine-therapy organization. It is a campaign though so sales for this shirt are limited. Buy yours today! I did. Supernatural is the longest running series on the CW network and gave us 15 amazing seasons. It is hands down my absolute favorite show. I’ve purchased quite a bit of their partner STANDS merchandise over the years and been really pleased with it. I want to point out that I have no affiliation with Stands other then the fact…
Buffy the Vampire Slayer remains one of my two most favorite tv shows of all time. Joss Whedon’s show started it all and was innovative in its day. Before DVRs, iTunes, Netflix, etc., there was Buffy. A show about a blonde teenage girl who was born to fight monsters, especially vampires. Whedon came up with the concept because he was annoyed by the movies where the girl running from the killer ALWAYS trips and gets killed. He wanted the girl to rise up and be the one who slayed the monsters – the one they feared. The show started as a movie with Kristy Swanson and Luke Perry in 1992, and it was the first movie I ever went to by myself. I HAD to see it. It was a revelation for someone raised on fairy tales, Poe, Carroll, and Dracula. I was obsessed. This post contains affiliate links. If…
Christmas lights are one of the most enjoyable sights to see every year. Our family likes getting in the car after dinner and checking out our favorite displays and finding new ones. There are great neighborhood displays around Atlanta that thrill visitors every year and often take donations for non-profits like the Make A Wish foundation. A single-family or multiple ones get together to decorate their yards and share the holiday spirit. Below are some top ones around Atlanta and in surrounding counties. We found even more light displays that we’ll feature in another post. Holiday lights are a way to bring joy to your life so we hope you visit these neighborhoods! Please make sure you check their websites and Facebook pages before venturing out to make sure weather hasn’t affected their display hours.
